Calgary's Chief of Police (a rather controversial character) looks dignified and competent as he rides in the parade.
Of course my favorite people in uniform are the park rangers:
The parade had the Calgary Stampede Queen and Princesses mounted on horses, but then following them were some of the past queens and princesses, going back as far 1953. I was suitably impressed.
Ok I didn't include all the pictures I had of the ones between 2004 and 1953, however I think they all deserved a hand for coming out for this, but I was impressed that they went back as far as they did. It seems the 1960 queen had to fly in from Rome for this.
A lot of the Stampede Parade are floats and Riders advertising companies, however one of those that I really liked was the float for Leyden's Funeral home celebrating their 75th anniversary this year. If I ever had to be paraded around in a hearse this is the one I would like to be riding by in.
Finally there were some interesting riders that seemed a little displaced
from the rest of the display, kind of a reverse of the Mark Twain story: "A
Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court".
