NOTE about my web site - it is moving to a new server downtown over the next few days/weeks (ok obviously MONTHS) and video downloads will be much faster with its 10Mb/s connection to the internet backbone at the Group Telecom facility. However there may be a few hiccoughs along the way.
A while back one of my nieces got me addicted to Facebook inviting me in to see pictures of her daughter. I found that there are several large communities of Calgary Salsa Dancers (and even larger ones in other places) there. I have created my own called Gentlemen of Salsa devoted to the idea that men who dance Salsa should be concerned with the experience their partners have on the dance floor. I honestly want to know if something I do when dancing makes it less than enjoyable for my partner. It also behoves us, as those who lead, to make sure that other couples are not disadvantaged by what we do. However now I am using that group to host any dance venue I plan to attend as a Facebook 'event' and I am posting the videos I add here to there as well.
If you want to join any of the Calgary Facebook Salsa groups click on the links here, if you are not already logged on to Facebook it will offer you the opportunity to log on or create a new account if you are not yet on Facebook:

For 2007 I am planning an ambitious new dance website: www.dancebookings.com
Until it is ready for prime time this page will continue with its original intent:
Folks I
was thinking of setting something up to share videos and have discussions but a
couple of places beat me too it:
Alberta Dancesport
just started something up. As well for over a year a variety of different
organizations have been contributing announcements and event information on
Cowtown Dance. Until
either of these sites get organized with some way to share those little summary
videos from courses and workshops I have a few videos of class summaries from
The Studio and from the Swing and Salsa workshops are here for people to share.
Now I have seen another Calgary dance forum on line: Calgary Salsa.
All of the videos are linked here in a way that would let you either click on the movie to view it or that you could right click on it and choose to save it to your own hard drive. If bandwidth for my site becomes a problem, or if part of making a better web site for people interested in dancing in Calgary includes having to put controls on access to these videos I will implement something with user names and passwords. So for now access is open to anyone who has the link, but please, rather than downloading the same video several times by clicking on it to watch it, conserve bandwidth if you want to see it several times and right click on the link and choose the option: "Save target as . . ." then put it on your computers hard drive as prompted.
A note on quality: I have compressed the videos for web downloading but have kept the originals in a higher quality format, if you want a better copy it could be burned on DVD, bring me a blank in the next class you see me in and I will burn it and bring it back.
Now, without further ado, here are some videos:
Note: I am still working on editing these things so as I edit them and post them on Facebook and the Alberta Dancesport website I will put them up here as well.
